Questions answered here
Short answers, each linked to the full piece and its sources.
- Why don't leads convert even when I reply fast?A fast first reply gets you considered, but most of the loss happens afterwards. Pied Piper's 2026 study of 3,211 home-services inquiries found 72% received no follow-up and only 28% were offered a time to book.
- How many times should you follow up with a lead? Two or three times after your first reply, each with new, useful content, then stop and record a reason. Belkins' 2026 study of 7.53 million B2B emails found 58.6% of replies came after the first message, and Apollo reports reply rates fall sharply after the third.
- Should a startup use AI for customer support?Yes for routine questions that a written facts list answers, such as plan limits, how-to steps and invoice copies. Keep refunds outside policy, discounts, cancellations, complaints, outages and legal requests with a person, and tell the customer when that person will reply.
- What does "Handled by your AI agent" mean in Google Business Profile? It is the list of customer messages that Google's AI agent answered on its own in the Business Profile Messages pilot. You can read them, but Google has not documented how the agent chose its answers.
- What is a lost lead audit?A lost lead audit is a review of every inquiry a business received over a fixed period, usually 90 days, sorting each into an outcome such as never answered, answered once and dropped, time offered, booked, or lost with a reason, and putting a dollar value on the ones that went nowhere.
- How do I let customers reach a human when I use an AI assistant?Make one plain request, such as 'can I talk to a person?', enough to trigger a handoff at any point. The assistant should stop answering that topic, send you the full conversation, and tell the customer who will reply and by what time.
- Why am I not receiving emails from my website contact form? The usual causes are a form that fails to submit, a notification that fails SPF, DKIM or DMARC checks because it is sent from the wrong address or server, a notification filtered into Spam or Promotions, or an inbox nobody checks. A test submission with a header check finds which one in a few minutes.
- What counts as a resolution for Intercom Fin?Fin's pricing FAQ defines a resolution as "No further help is requested after Fin's last answer." A Procedure that you configure to end in a handoff is also a billable outcome. Each costs $0.99, with a 50-outcome monthly minimum (fin.ai, checked 1 October 2026).
- How should a solo founder handle customer support?Use one support@ address, sort email into pre-sales, support, billing and bugs, and write a reply-time promise for each. Automate only answers that sit word for word on a facts sheet, and send money, security and complaint emails to yourself with an honest reply-by time.
- What share of online-store pre-sales questions arrive after hours?Gorgias's Ecom Lab reported in July 2026 that 53% of pre-purchase questions arrive outside business hours, based on the last 90 days of data on its platform.
